A free spool, or ‘Baitrunner’, carp reel is a reel which features a secondary drag system which can be switched on or off. With the freespool in the ‘off’ position the reel acts as a normal rear drag reel, but in the ‘on’ position, a secondary drag is engaged which allows the spool to run freely when a fish takes the bait. On lifting the rod and striking, the secondary drag disengages and you then play the fish on the normal rear drag system.
With a stealth gunmetal grey body, the new Baitrunner DL offers a host of features unique to the DL family of reels. Three shielded stainless steel ball bearings produce effortless performance, whilst the Power Roller helps to eliminate line twist with fine mono and braid.
The Baitrunner XTB-LC is available in two sizes - ‘Big’ with its awesome casting performance and a smaller ‘Medium’ size ideal for medium range work. Both are fitted with the latest technology, including oversized long range spools and Shimano’s famous Baitrunner freespool facility.
